Travel Writing
Travel Writing
Whether it’s hot air ballooning over the Rio Grande in Albuquerque, New Mexico (with its 310 days of sunshine each year) or hitting the slopes of North Carolina’s snow tubing sites (one of the fastest growing winter sports around), writing travel stories is one of the major perks in the freelance writing business.

So Many Places; So Little Time
It’s all a matter of choosing destinations and activities close to your heart (and your pocketbook) that in turn, allow you to share your experience with others. Good travel writers make you feel as if you just stepped onto exotic territory then take you along for a fun-filled ride. They also give you a road map that lets you figure out not just how to get there but what to do; what to expect; and what to avoid. Great travel writers throw in a surprise or two, and immerse you in the sights, sounds, and feel of places that seem far away from home even when it’s close to their own backyard.
I do not compare myself in any way to great travel writers. Far from it, as I attempt to learn from them all the time. In this section are samples of published travel writing with (hopefully) more trips and more stories ahead.
